19:00–21:30 | Textile Workshop
In this workshop, each participant starts with a piece of clothing or textile of their own — something connected to a person, a moment or a memory.
On a prepared white 50 × 50 cm base, you will create a textile collage. The piece of clothing you bring will be cut and reworked into fragments that come together to form a new composition.
Using the technique of slow stitching, we work slowly and intuitively. Hand-stitched elements connect the different pieces without forcing them into place. The process takes centre stage: looking, repositioning, waiting, starting again. Everyone works at their own pace, without pressure to finish the piece during the session.
After the workshop, the work can continue to grow. The base remains a starting point that can be added to or refined later.
Practical information:
- Bring: 1 piece of clothing or textile (ironed!)
- Technique: slow stitching / hand-assembling textile fragments
- Basic sewing experience: helpful, but not essential
- Focus: mindfulness, experiencing materials, personal memories
- If you have your own fabric scissors, needles, etc., you are very welcome to bring them.
What you will take away from the workshop
- A personal textile collage made from your own material
- An introduction to slow stitching as a slow, intuitive way of working
- A piece that can continue to evolve after the session
- An experience in which making and remembering become intertwined
